Extremist at Work

Extremist are known for their radical views and right winged beliefs. What is moral and ethical seems today to be losing touch with the social norms. Generally, I believe each person should be allowed to freely present whatever views they may have, and no-one has authority to deny them that right.

I was first exposure to extremism a few years back watching a Louis Theroux documentary on white neo-Nazi. It left me shocked that people can be ridiculously inexcusable racist and that there are many people who actually believe that a certain race could be supreme over all others. The Neo-Nazi extremist groups went beyond mere advocacy of restrictive immigration policy to actually confront or harass suspected immigrants. It’s astonishing that man be so deluded and hateful.

According to the Huffington Post furious anti-immigrant vigilante groups soared by nearly 80%, adding some 136 new groups during 2009. But how do these extremist groups even get noticed? In our changing world, technology is allowing people to communicate on a wider medium. It has many valuable such as social networks as Facebook, Twitter & Youtube. However like with almost everything it has its disadvantages. It can be a platform for cyberbullying, hacking and a tool for extremist groups to spread their warped ideology to the world and attract new members. The internet has a wider reach, reaching global levels, easily accessed and allows them to spread their messages faster and further.

With the use of the internet these extremist groups are aided and has encouraged with a platform to become even more radical. Spread their hate messages, attract people’s attention and recruiting new members has never been easier. After visiting sites as the Australian First party it was evident reading only a number of their policies that they are indeed a political extremist group. With no shame, they bluntly state the following primary 8 policies;

1. Ensure Australia retains full independence

2. Rebuild Australian manufacturing industries

3. Control Foreign Ownership.

4. Reduce and limit immigration

5. Abolish multiculturalism

6. Introduce citizen’s initiated referenda

7. Strengthen the family

8. Strive to build a united Australia

If this doesn't demonstrate that the Australian First Party is an extremist group, than I don't what does.
